🌍 Inez is a facilitator, educator and consultant in the Human Scale Development Approach (also known as Barefoot Economics), working with communities seeking to improve their quality of life in balance with the Earth’s ecology. With a background in art and performance, her work focuses on the interplay between language, storytelling and culture change to help groups revitalise their ‘radical collective imagination’ – a capacity she believes is vital for the creation of a socially and ecologically just world.
💡 In this episode we talk about imagination, participatory design, barefoot economics, wellbeing, the regenerative triad, our fundamental human needs the role of the commons and even about "thigmomorphogenesis" which was a totally new word for me!
👓 About Inez Aponte
Inez Aponte is an educator, storyteller, and Barefoot Economist. A research fellow at The Schumacher Institute, she combines her in-depth knowledge of community changemaking with 25 years of performance storytelling to deliver ground-breaking trainings that combine ecological economics, embodied learning, neuroscience and social psychology. She works with a wide range of international audiences, including refugees, business leaders, community organisers and development workers. In 2021, together with her teenage son, she co-founded Crazy Beautiful World CIC, an intergenerational project aimed at finding wise and compassionate ways to navigate the challenges ahead. She currently hosts the Beautiful Economies Learning Lab, a six week embodied enquiry into the roots of our economic stories.
